21 Weeks - Pregnancy #2

Image
Each Sunday, I'd like to do a  highlights post , including a picture, summarizing the differences in my pregnancy from week to week.  I totally "grabbed" this idea from  Kelly .  I did this with my pregnancy with Hadley, as well, and I still think it is a great way to jot down the things that I don't want to forget later on.  I'll probably write these on Saturday nights and attach the picture the next day.  That way I can stay semi-technology free :) Pregnancy Highlights: How far along :  21 weeks Size of baby:   Baby Boy is 7 inches long (crown to rump), 10 1/2 inches crown to feet--the size of a carrot. Total weight gain/loss : As of my last appointment on Thursday, I'm 7 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight.  I've been eating A LOT lately, so that weight gain (3 1/2 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks) didn't surprise me. Maternity clothes:   Maternity jeans and shirts, regular dresses and shirts, comfy cotton shorts Gender:   At our appointm

"Thirty was so strange for me.  I've really had to come to terms with the fact that I am now a walking and talking adult."   ~C.S. Lewis~ Isn't that the truth?! So, I turned the big 3-0 this past weekend.  To say I've been dreading it is an understatement. It wasn't so much the number I dreaded as it was what it meant.  I'm in a whole other decade! And, I really didn't want to be. Friday morning, I woke up early after not sleeping well.  Insomnia has been a problem for me, and it chose that night to rear its ugly head.  I headed in to work, and the reality of it hit me.  I wanted to cry.  I did cry.  My sweet friend Ann just hugged me.  I got it out of my system.  Eventually.  Then, I looked up from my desk and saw this: Our Athletics Director, Angie, wrote that sometime during the day, and I hadn't even noticed.  She was so sweet.  She didn't know what I was feeling.  She didn't know it was almost my birthday.  She didn&#

A Scare and The Name Game

This past Sunday evening, I had some pretty heavy bleeding.  It was completely scary, but The Husband stayed calm, and I stayed mostly calm.  I laid on the couch and called The Bestie while he cleaned everything up.  I've had spotting before, but it's never been like that.  So, I waited and prayed and rested.  I played music by my belly, and Baby Boy just moved and danced right along.  I was very reassured.  No more bleeding has occurred since then, but I would ask for your prayers that that was a one-time occurrence and that both the baby and I are fine.  I do have an appointment with my doctor on Thursday upon her request, so I may have an exam or an ultrasound or both.  I think to see him would be reassuring, but I'm feeling pretty at peace right now and trusting in God to heal whatever the problem was and protect the baby in the process, so I'm not feeling like I need an ultrasound.  However, I won't turn down the chance to see him :) With a scare like that c

Gender Reveal #2

Y'all *she said with disappointment.* Out of almost two hundred views to that last post, only 8, EIGHT , people voted?!  Surely, more of you had opinions than that.  I'm whipping out the "Good grief!" sigh now.  Ok, the shaming-you section of the post is now over. I know you're relieved. Onto the important issue of the day:  the gender of our baby :) Let me just throw out there that I had a feeling this time around I was carrying a boy.   I didn't have any dreams pointing one way or the other.  This pregnancy hasn't felt any different than the last one.  I just thought I might be pregnant with a boy this time.  The Husband wasn't so sure. The question was:  Which of us was right? Me.  I was :)  We are expecting a BOY , our SON , to make his appearance around the first week in July!  We're both very excited, more excited than I thought we'd be. I mean, just look at his sweet little nose! To be honest, and I try to be, we

Take a wild guess :)

It's that time again, y'all!  Cast your vote and make this pregnant, and hungry, gal happy :)   So what do you think?   Does my basketball belly scream "it's a boy"?   Or, did my horrendous morning sickness shout "it's a girl?    pollcode.com free polls   I'll admit this is a little late in the making, but it was fun last time around, and I thought, "Why the heck not?"  I'd love for our friends and family (aunts, uncles, cousins, distant relatives, etc.) to get in on the guessing.  I'll leave the poll open for one day, so get your guesses in quickly! Several people in our family and among our close friends know the baby's gender (whose appointment went VERY well yesterday, btw!) already, so their vote doesn't technically count.  BUT.  If you know the gender but would like to vote for which sex you thought the baby was prior to us telling you, then go for it!  The more the merrier, I always say.  (That

Total weight gain/loss :  I really have no idea how much I've gained.  All I know is that I've practically eaten us out of house and home! Maternity clothes:   Comfy tops, maternity shirts, Be Band, jeans, pajamas. Gender:   We'll *hopefully* find out tomorrow!  I haven't decided whether I'll announce it on here or not.  I will probably wait until I'
