26 Weeks - Pregnancy #2

Image
Each Sunday, I'd like to do a  highlights post , including a picture, summarizing the differences in my pregnancy from week to week.  I totally "grabbed" this idea from  Kelly .  I did this with my pregnancy with Hadley, as well, and I still think it is a great way to jot down the things that I don't want to forget later on.  I'll probably write these on Saturday nights and attach the picture the next day.  That way I can stay semi-technology free :) Pregnancy Highlights: How far along :  26 weeks Size of baby:   Baby Boy is a little over 9 inches long (crown to rump)--the size of an  average rutabaga (what?! haha)--  13 1/2 or so inches crown to feet Total weight gain/loss :  At least 12 pounds so far...but I feel pretty heavy, and he feels pretty dang heavy already, too! Maternity clothes:   Maternity jeans and shirts, regular dresses and shirts, comfy cotton shorts Gender:   A very bouncy baby boy Movement :  Lots of movement throughou

Happy Birthday to the Husband!

Image
This has been a busy weekend (and there's still one more day!), but I did want to post a few pictures from today. First, today was The Husband's birthday !  He and I went out for lunch to celebrate a few days ago because we knew today we would be celebrating my great-aunt's 96th birthday, as well.  My parents came in for the weekend, and the four-and-a-half of us drove up to bluebonnet country for the party.  We had a great time visiting with family and friends (there were TONS of people there--many of whom I'm related to but also lots that I hadn't ever met before), and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Here are a few shots from the day! The view from their "backyard" Yeah, I know. We want to live there, too! Hah! Standing in the field My cousin Kirby and me  My cousin Chris and me :) My cousin Paige and me with our Bluebell samples! Part of my dad's side of the family--please excuse the many squinty ey

Broken Chains

Our church and our worship team have been preparing for tomorrow night and Sunday morning for months now.  Good Friday and Easter Sunday are two of the most important days in the Christian church. Don't get me wrong. Christmas is of great importance as well; without Christmas, we wouldn't have Easter.  But without the events that took place on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter morning, our lives, our eternity would look incredibly different. This weekend especially, we are praying for hearts to be open, people who are bound by spiritual and mental chains to be freed, lives to be changed and restored. If you live in the area and do not have a church home, or if your church isn't having a Good Friday service, please accept my invitation to you!  You are heartily invited to come and hear the message of Good News.   It's a message of deep, abiding, sacrificial love and unwavering grace.  It is life-changing, heart-moving news.  If you're in

Perks of Pregnancy **updated with video**

Image
**UPDATED WITH VIDEO BELOW** Ah, pregnancy.  (Y'all, this is an old picture.  If I were to wear that belt now, you wouldn't be able to see the buckle.  AT.  ALL.)  I've been so very blessed this time around.  But, I will say, there are definitely some fantastic and some funky parts to this pregnancy. I don't know whether I'm a glass half full or a glass half empty kind of girl, but I think I'll list the fantastic parts first.  Just think of it as the ice cream before the broccoli. So, without further ado.... The Top 5 Perks #1  I have noticed that most people are generally friendlier to pregnant gals.  There's more smiling, more engaging in conversations, more eye contact.  There's more touching, too, but right now, I'm debating on whether or not to list that one under "The Pains," hah!   #2  To add onto #1, I've seen far more random acts of kindness.  Last week, I was at Target shopping for a cute maternity maxi
