Thankful Thursday (10/01)

Image
Yesterday afternoon, exactly one year  to .  the .  day . that The Husband graduated from the academy, he got the call that's going to change his life, our lives in a huge way.  The sheriff's department in the county where we live will be getting its newest, handsomest, red-headed deputy in about a week and a half, and I couldn't me more pleased for or more proud of him.  He has worked incredibly hard this year, and he is going to make a fine officer who serves and protects those who work and live in this community.  My prayer for him is this (and if you would join me in this prayer as often as you think of us, it would mean the world to me): Holy and awesome God, You knew these days were coming. Thank you for your perfect timing.  I pray that The Husband will seek You each day before he puts that uniform on. I pray that the Holy Spirit will guide and protect him, that You will give him wisdom and discernment ...

A Heart for Jesus

Image
My prayer every day, every night as I lay my children in bed, is that they will have a heart for God and for people.   We thank God for the food that's been prepared for us each meal, and before we go to bed each night, we thank God for the day we've been given, and one of the first words Jack attempted was "amen."  It made my heart glad.  Last week during our meals together, Jack started "requesting" to pray. He would grab my hand (and The Husband's if he wasn't at work) and squeeze his eyes tight, and when I asked him if he wanted to pray and tell God we were thankful for the day and the food before us, he would nod vigorously. And, so we would pray. Again. :) Ella watches, and it makes me thankful that she is witnessing that simple act of gratitude.  I captured this shot this morning, mid-breakfast, his second request to pray.  I hope he always takes moments out of his day to give thanks for what he's been given, and I hope he develops a beaut...

Storming the Gates

Image
Yesterday, while Jack was in "room time," I heard some noises that weren't typical. So, my curiosity piqued, I looked under his door.   He had moved the items from the left side of his room to the right side of his room. Same placement. New spot.    This morning. I heard the same noises. Again, I peeked under the door and saw he'd done the same thing. All three large items were moved to the same place.  I guess he wanted a new perspective. I do it, too. I've moved furniture in his room several times, and when we lived in the condo, I was always trying out new room arrangements.  A new perspective. We all need it occasionally.  The Husband needs it badly. Truly. If we've ever needed you to storm the gates of heaven for us, this is it.  He has been at this job as a correctional officer for almost a year now. The job was a god-send last year. It worked better with his hours at the academy. It allowed us to save up for and buy...

Covering Those I Love

Image
A couple of weeks ago, I posted my daily schedule .  I've stuck to it most days; though I freely admit that on other days I've *gasp* completed the things completely out of order, or, dare I say it?, not done certain things AT ALL.  It's so unlike me.  Oh dear!  It appears that my organizational and scheduling habits might be flying out the window..... Kidding .  I don't think I'll ever not be organized.  Even now I'm dreaming of how (thanks to creative ideas on Pinterest!) I'm going to organize the changing table once it makes its way into our room.  Baskets and baskets of cloth diapering goodies!  I can't wait! You should know I'm on the verge of letting out a super girly, giddy squeal.  Anywho, in that schedule, I mentioned my quiet time with the Lord. Although prayers are a personal thing, I do also think that we can encourage one another in our prayer life.  I, myself, find great joy in hearing how others approach the throne of gr...
