21 Weeks - Pregnancy #3

Image
First, today is The Husband's birthday!!! Happy birthday, My Love!  I hope you had a wonderful day! Second, I made a cake for him.  It was the first time I've made a cake from scratch.  Heck, it was the first time I've made a cake period.  It wasn't too difficult (although the "glaze" was more like icing), and it turned out yummy. :)   I found the recipe here .   Now, on to today's previously scheduled post... Each Sunday, I'd like to do a  highlights post , including a picture, summarizing the differences in my pregnancy from week to week.  I totally "grabbed" this idea from  Kelly .  I did this with my pregnancies with Hadley and with Jack, as well, and I still think it is a great way to jot down the things that I don't want to forget later on.  Pregnancy Highlights: How far along :  21 weeks Size of baby:   Baby Girl is 7 inches long (crown to rump), 10 1/2 inches crown to feet--the size of a carrot. Total wei

Two Things Tuesday (3/24)

1.  Yesterday, we got to have our growth scan ultrasound.  I was super nervous.  A lot played into those feelings, but I'm so glad to report that everything looks good.  The amniotic sac is fused with the uterine lining, so that's a big load off.  Her heart looks good, and she has a strong heartbeat (145-ish).  She's measuring right on track (20 weeks and 1 day yesterday), and even a little bit ahead on one or two things (she's weighing 12 ounces, which is a tiny bit bigger than what they estimate little ones this age will weigh). Our appointment lasted about an hour, and the technician took tons of pictures.  She'll pass them along to the radiologist, who will check everything out.  Then, he will pass his report on to my doctor/midwife. Oh, and we made sure she's still a girl :). 2. Here are a few shots from yesterday.  I tried to convince the tech to get a cute side profile shot, but she said the side profiles aren't really informative.  Oh.  But, I lo

Each Sunday, I'd like to do a  highlights post , including a picture, summarizing the differences in my pregnancy from week to week.  I totally "grabbed" this idea from  Kelly .  I did this with my pregnancies with both Hadley and with Jack, and I still think it is a great way to jot down the things that I don't want to forget later on.   Pregnancy Highlights: How far along :  20 weeks -- HALF WAY! Size of baby:   Baby Girl is 6 1/2 inches long (crown to rump), 10 inches crown to feet--the size of a banana Total weight gain/loss : As of my last appointment a couple of weeks ago, I'm 6.5 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight. I have been eating like a maniac, and I feel huge.  Maternity clothes:   Pajamas and comfy shirts/sweats.  Occasionally, I'll put on the maternity jeans and maternity shirts, but I mostly stay cozy. It did warm up the other day, and I actually put on a spring-like dress.  Gende

Five Facts Friday (3/21) - Solving a mystery and watching God's plan unfold before our eyes...

** I debated whether or not to write today's post mostly because things aren't final, yet, and because I generally like to "look before I leap" as it were, but I decided the story is too good not to be told, and if I'm going to tell it, I need to do so while my mind still remembers the facts clearly. ** 1.  Monday morning, our condo had been scheduled to be shown twice, back to back. Around noon, I received an email from our realtor asking if we had moved the wrought iron bench that sits under the small window on our porch. Attached to it is the lockbox that other realtors need to access the key to get inside our place when they're showing it. One of the realtors who had signed up to show it, sent her a picture.  No bench. No lockbox. No key.  Our bench had been stolen.  The showings had to be cancelled until we could figure out how to let people in. We also needed to have the locks changed on the off chance that whoever took it managed to brea

18 Weeks - Pregnancy #3

Each Sunday, I'd like to do a  highlights post , including a picture, summarizing the differences in my pregnancy from week to week.  I totally "grabbed" this idea from  Kelly .  I did this with my two previous pregnancies, as well, and I still think it is a great way to jot down the things that I don't want to forget later on.   Pregnancy Highlights: How far along :  18 weeks  Size of baby:   Baby Love is 5.5 inches long and the size of a sweet potato. Total weight gain/loss :  I haven't weighed myself this week, but I see the midwife/doctor Thursday, so I'll know then.  Maternity clothes:   Comfy tops, maternity shirts, pajamas or gym shorts/pants (see embarrassing picture below to confirm) Gender:   A sweet baby girl Movement :  I have felt a few kicks/jabs the last few days! Sleep :  I still have to get up at least once a night to make my nightly trip to the bathroom. What I miss :  Sleeping on my back. Cravings :  An occa

Five Facts Friday (3/7)

1.  Jack's had an off-and-on fever since Wednesday . It ranges anywhere from 99 to 101.5. He goes long stretches of no fever (like 10 o'clock last night to noon today) without the aid of medicines. Very strange.  He has no other discernible symptoms. He's still as sweet as ever.  He does let me know when his temp is rising, however.  His cheeks get very flushed, and he becomes sad, clingy, and frustrated easily. He also has been napping more than usual. Poor baby. I want him to feel better, so I can stop worrying! 2.  The Husband and I finally agreed on a name for Baby Girl! It was REALLY difficult this go round. Every name I liked, he hated. Every one he proposed, I nixed.  People watched us argue over names with bemused expressions or unsure glances passing between them. I think maybe some of them thought our marriage might be in jeopardy if a name wasn't agreed upon soon. Then, Wednesday night, when I was up at 3am checking Jack's temperature, I

1.  Trying to nurse an almost nine month old little boy, who is incredibly curious with regards to the world around him (even in a mostly dark room with nothing exciting happening. At. All.), is like trying to cuddle and contain a monkey who has recently learned how to do backflips and who is bent on trying out this new trick every 30 seconds.   Arms flail.  Legs repeatedly kick the arms of the rocking chair.  Back arches.  Giggles at the colorful towel hanging in front of the curtain echo off the walls.  It's a ridiculous test of patience that I fail more often than not.  This wouldn't be quite so frustrating if I wasn't desperately working to maintain (or even increase..hahahahaha) my decreasing supply.  Anywho, I've ordered some More Milk Two (alcohol free) by Motherlove on The Bestie's recommendation, and I'm praying that will help. I hope it gets here soon.  2.  I painted my fingernails last night.  They're pink (they look a little red in the

17 Weeks - Pregnancy #3 (and a little something extra)

Total weight gain/loss :  Since finding out I was pregnant, I've gained 5.5 pounds. Maternity clothes:   Pajamas, pajamas, pajamas, long skirts, loose or fitted tops, and a few maternity tops.  I can't find the maternity jeans The Bestie loaned me.  They must be hanging in my closet at the condo.  Bummer. Gender:   We know the gender!  We've only been to the doctor once this pregnancy, but they had to do the ultrasound to determine how far along I am.  Because I'm still nursing Jack, my
