Five Facts Friday (2/28) and a Poll

1.  So we made the big announcement yesterday!
If you missed it, you might want to head on over here before reading any further.

2.  Yesterday's appointment was a strange one for us.
I'm nearly 17 weeks, and that was the first time (due to insane and completely frustrating insurance issues that I've been dealing with since right after we first found out a week before Christmas) that I've gone to the doctor this time around. Seeing the ultrasound was even more bizarre because we're used to seeing an itty-bitty little one at the beginning. To see a baby with little, but distinct features and moving those arms and legs and fingers and to see the space being taken up by that almost 5-inch torso was crazy.  I'll go back in two weeks to meet with the midwife and/or doctor. Then, sometime in the next three weeks, I'll have my 18-20 week growth scan (more in depth ultrasound) to make sure all looks well. Please pray for me regarding that and pray for Baby #3. I'd love to hear them say all looks great, that the amniotic sac has fused to the uterine lining, and that we have a healthy baby who is growing well!

3.  I.  Can't. Stop. Laughing.
At this...

And this...

4.  Fun, slightly embarrassing story from last night.
I got Jack in bed, ate my dinner, watched an episode or two of The Little Couple on Netflix, and then I hopped in the shower. I took a 20-minute shower, enjoying the hot water and the quiet. It wasn't until I was already dried off and in my pajamas that it suddenly dawned on me that I had neither shaved nor bathed. Awesome. No, I did not get back in. I trust that the hot water did at least some good. Ugh. :/ Y'all, I have NO clue how that happened.
I will bathe tonight.

5.  It's very difficult keeping the gender a secret.
I have only told one person (completely out of frustration).
The Husband, on the other hand, told the people in his class. His class of like 20 people.
Way to keep it a secret, Babe!
Haha, anyway, we'll be telling our immediate families soon, and then we'll share with everyone. So, if you're in my husband's class, and you know the gender, please keep it to yourself and don't post it on Facebook or tell your neighbor or share it with the lady at the checkout counter. Thanks :)

So, here it is! What you've all been waiting for :)
The Annual Gender Poll.
Annual.  Seriously.  I've been pregnant every year since we got married :).
That's a lot of hormones. And, that's a lot of moody me to deal with.
If you've had the good pleasure of dealing with me lately, you deserve an award. A trophy. A medal. A day away from me.
Take a guess!  You can vote once a day if you're super enthusiastic regarding your guess. ;)
And, then tell me in the comments your choice!
We'll make the official announcement sometime next week.

Thankful Thursday (2/27) -- It's Kind of a Big Deal

Thankful Thursday.

I think today I have something incredible to be thankful for.  No, I know it.

DESPITE the fact that The Husband and I had an argument this morning in the car (which resulted in a decidely-sour mood for a few hours thereafter), and DESPITE the fact that Jack refused to eat lunch and therefore went down for his nap on a basically-empty stomach (which, again, frustrated me to no end), we saw something that took our breaths away hours before all of that took place.

Jack, would you like to share?
If he could nod, I know his head would bob in the affirmative.

Did you catch it?  If not, here's what The Husband and I saw on this gorgeous, chilly, Southeast Texas day in the warmth of a dimly-lit room.

So, there you have it. The secret we've held onto for months now.

If this little one holds fast and true to the due date we've been given, Jack and Baby #3 will be almost exactly 14 months apart. Almost exactly to the day. We think that's pretty neat :)

We did find out the gender, but I think we'll hold out a bit longer before sharing.
Because that's just how we (I--The Husband could care less about the fun of secrets) roll.

If you have any questions, leave them in a comment below, and I'd be happy to answer them!

Five Facts Friday (2/21)--updated with video

1.  Jack is doing really well in his new bed. He goes down for naps without a hitch, and he's doing really great at night. The only thing I've noticed is that with all that free bed space he has now, he moves A LOT.  Every time I go in to get him after he's woken from a nap or to get him in the morning after a full night's sleep, I find him turned from where he had been when I laid him down. In the mornings, he's usually turned a full 180 degrees and on his side. He's a mess. A very cute mess.

2. The Husband completed the next part of the application/interview process for the job he's hoping to get soon. He has an interview with them next week.  Please keep him in your prayers. His schooling is still going well; although, I think they've reached a slightly boring part. I know he'll be happy when they move onto a new topic in another week or so.

3. I'm contemplating reading a book called The Fault in Our Stars. Have any of you read it?  A gal we used to go to church with has been pinning lots of quotes from it on Pinterest, and they are all so beautiful/thought-provoking! Is it a must-read?

4. Bath time with Jack has been so fun lately. He's really gotten into the splashing thing :). Here's part of our bath time experience from tonight. The toys he's "playing" with belonged to my grandparents, and whenever I stayed with them, I got to play with those "three men in the tub" while my Grammy recited the poem.  I'm sure several of my cousins might remember them, too!

5. How have I not heard this song until today???!  It's gorgeous, and it's been running through my head all afternoon. This was the only version of it that I could find where it allowed me to embed it.  (This video here is beautiful, and it's the full song if you enjoyed the snippet below.)

New Things

I'm posting because I just don't want to forget these moments.

1.  Two days ago, Jack started getting in at least one tooth. I can feel (and see now) two very sharp points on his bottom gums. So, very soon, our beautifully-toothless, adorably-gummy boy will be showing off his pearly whites!

2.  Sometime during his last nap today, he rolled to his side and finished out his nap like that. He's always slept on his back, never showing any interest in sleeping on his side or his tummy, so this was pretty exciting to see when I went in to get him up. I wish I could have taken a picture. So precious.

3. The Husband worked tirelessly on putting together our brand new baby bed (Thank you soooo much, Nana and Grampa!) this afternoon, and Jack is sleeping in his big boy crib (that will one day be a toddler bed and then all-too-soon will be a regular size bed) tonight for the first time. I'm about to go take a peek :)

Five Facts Friday (2/14)

1.  Sunday is my birthday.
My parents are getting me an ice cream cake.
I'm excited!
About the cake; not about the birthday.

2.  Jack is in constant motion. When he's sitting on the blanket, he's rocking and leaning and falling and chewing on anything he can get his hands on and his mouth around. When he's in his jumper/activity thing, he's spinning and grabbing and bouncing. When he's sitting in my lap, and we're trying to take a picture, he's all over the place.
I love him.

3.  I put actual clothes on instead of staying in pajamas most of the day. So there's that. Jack also wore actual clothes today :).  He looks less like a baby in actual clothes though, and I'm not ready for that quite yet, so I think we'll stick with cute, cuddly onesie/footed pajamas for his daily wear :)

4.  It's was a gorgeous day. So, I fixed tons of baby food. I don't know what it is about cloudy, cold weather. It makes me want to do nothing. But give me a sunshiny day? I'm happy to be in the kitchen. I've got a batch of peaches to steam and purée after the pot comes clean (I had a mishap while steaming the carrots...apparently I didn't put enough water in the pot below, and the juices that seeped down candied and made a terrible, stinky, smoky mess), and then, I think we should be good for a while.

5.  I still have a ton of baby clothes to fold and cloth diapers to stuff with inserts, but instead, I'm going to sit here and eat my ice cream while my baby naps and enjoy the semi-silence.

Two Things Tuesday (2/11) - 8 Months Old!

1.  Jack's 8 months old!
I DO NOT know where the time has gone!
He is sweet and squishy and lovely and giggly and determined and inquisitive and vocal and we love him to bits. More so every day.

2. And, here he is :)
