Monday Musings (3/14)

We waste words. 
Do you agree with the above quote? I do. And I'm just as guilty as the next person in overusing words or using them inappropriately. I say something the kids did is "awesome" far more than is needed. I need to stop because when I talk to them about the awesomeness of God, I'm afraid they'll think He's just as neat as Jack jumping high or Ella drawing something on the porch. Neither is awesome. Both are wonderful (to their mommy!), and both are exciting to witness, but neither are awe-inspiring. So I'm going to work on eliminating that word from my everyday vocabulary unless I'm actually talking about something that inspires awe. There are other words I overuse, too, so as they're brought to my attention I will do my best to not use them as much or to substitute more appropriate words in their place.
The following two poems are from a book of poetry (Hello Sunshine, Good Night Moonlight) I read with the kids. 

Words have meaning. They have voice. They create pictures in our minds. 
Words are powerful.

~I'm in the mood to decorate my backyard with beautiful flowers, especially along the fence line. I was thinking rose bushes. But, then. I get email notifications from a company called Joss & Main often with discounted prices and good deals, and today's email showed that, among other things, they had their garden items on sale. I clicked on over and saw the prettiest hydrangeas! I ADORE hydrangeas. We had them in our wedding, and they were so simple and beautiful. Unfortunately, they already sold out of all of their hydrangeas!!  BOO.  I'll keep looking around to find some good deals.  If you're also in the gardening mood, check out their sales . Maybe they'll have the plant, garden item, outdoor furniture, or other item for around the house you're searching for. ~Saturday morning, my mom and I took the kids to our local consignment shop. They were having a birthday/reopening/moving celebration and had prizes and food and a man doing face painting.

Introducing....

I know I left you all in suspense. Right now I'm running on very little sleep (we were awake for 25 hours straight, & I've slept an hour and 45 minutes total since then), so this is more informative and less story-like--his birth story will come later. I have to tell it, at some point, because it was nothing short of amazing.  And traumatic.  And I may have to gather more details from those who might remember it more clearly. So, without further ado... (And with a very grainy picture from my iPad taken in the early light of day--6:45), I'd like to introduce you to our son. Jack Campbell Born on 6-11-13 at 1:11 am (he's almost 6 hours old) Weighing 6 pounds 2 ounces (praise God!!) and measuring 18.5 inches long.  He's entirely too precious for words.  We feel ridiculously tired and immeasurably blessed. Thank you for praying!

A Little Revealing

**Hehehehe. My blog post title made me giggle.** If you stayed tuned and saw on FB that we'd be announcing this afternoon, then you're in luck.  So, without further adieu, Jack and Ella will be doing the honors.  Now, go on ahead and post in the comments what you guessed :) I was right early on but then changed my mind, so any guess was a good one!
