Resurrection Sunday

It's Easter Sunday, and I've been thinking about traditions versus truths and wondering if the two can be mingled.

Traditions like egg hunts and baskets full of treats. 
Truths like Jesus dying on the cross for you and me and rising from the grave, defeating sin and death.  

I want our children to see the joy of this truly remarkable day, and therefore I'm totally into celebrating and giving gifts. 

I'm not really a fan of the Easter bunny, but we will definitely take part in hunting for the hidden eggs (they'll have their first (candy-free) Easter egg hunt tomorrow at Nana and Grandpa's!), and maybe we'll start a tradition of finding the "empty tomb egg."
I also look forward to making these with them in a few years and making that an Easter Sunday morning tradition, as well. 

I'm thinking the two can be merged beautifully, and Easter is one more day of truths and traditions that I look forward to celebrating with our small family for years to come.

Monday Musings (5/4)

~I'm in the mood to decorate my backyard with beautiful flowers, especially along the fence line. I was thinking rose bushes. But, then. I get email notifications from a company called Joss & Main often with discounted prices and good deals, and today's email showed that, among other things, they had their garden items on sale. I clicked on over and saw the prettiest hydrangeas! I ADORE hydrangeas. We had them in our wedding, and they were so simple and beautiful. Unfortunately, they already sold out of all of their hydrangeas!!  BOO.  I'll keep looking around to find some good deals.  If you're also in the gardening mood, check out their sales . Maybe they'll have the plant, garden item, outdoor furniture, or other item for around the house you're searching for. ~Saturday morning, my mom and I took the kids to our local consignment shop. They were having a birthday/reopening/moving celebration and had prizes and food and a man doing face painting.

Introducing....

I know I left you all in suspense. Right now I'm running on very little sleep (we were awake for 25 hours straight, & I've slept an hour and 45 minutes total since then), so this is more informative and less story-like--his birth story will come later. I have to tell it, at some point, because it was nothing short of amazing.  And traumatic.  And I may have to gather more details from those who might remember it more clearly. So, without further ado... (And with a very grainy picture from my iPad taken in the early light of day--6:45), I'd like to introduce you to our son. Jack Campbell Born on 6-11-13 at 1:11 am (he's almost 6 hours old) Weighing 6 pounds 2 ounces (praise God!!) and measuring 18.5 inches long.  He's entirely too precious for words.  We feel ridiculously tired and immeasurably blessed. Thank you for praying!

**Hehehehe.
