The Annual Gala

Our yearly Gala/auction was held Saturday night, and it was beautiful.  For those of you who don't know what the night entails, I'll share a few tidbits with you.
*It's our school's only fundraiser, and it always has an inspired "theme."  This year's theme was Light, and it was based around Ephesians 5:8: "For you were once in darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light..."This year's theme (though you probably can't tell to the fullest extent by the pictures) was absolutely gorgeous.
*It's held each spring with the intent to raise money for scholarships and school expenses not covered by tuition.
*It's ALWAYS beautifully put together, and the planning for it begins the previous spring (after that spring's Gala has come and gone).
*There's an online auction, with donated items (from teachers and families), that runs for a week before the event itself.
*There's a silent auction the night of the event with more goodies to gaze upon and bid upon if you're so inclined (and have the money to do so).
*There's a dinner, an oh-so-yummy dinner, that is served while we converse with our table mates and listen to music.
*And, at the end of the evening, there's a live auction with trips and weeks at vacation homes and jewelry and a puppy (usually) up for grabs.  These are the big-ticket items.
There was a sweetness about it this year, and we saw more generosity than one could imagine in a single night.  I'm thankful we were able to attend, and, even though for most of the night The Husband had to work with the computer/auction equipment and I only saw him periodically until the last hour, the two of us shared a sweet time together with our table companions.
Doesn't The Husband look so handsome?!

  1. You both looked super cute!!! :) Glad the Gala went so well - hope the school raised lots and lots of money. Darn, wish I had known about the online auction beforehand. (: The banquet room looked particularly elegant - love the color scheme!!
