Two Things Tuesday (7/1)

1.  Ella is 2 days old today.
The NICU pediatrician said that once babies make it past 72 hours and are progressing, they much closer to being out of the woods, so we're almost there. Some updates:
She's almost off the increased pressure on her room air.
She's taking tube feedings with the milk I've pumped.
She's finished with the antibiotic.
Her blood sugars are looking good. She's still a bit jaundiced, so they're keeping her on the light.
She's having bowel movements without the aid of suppositories.
I got to do almost an hour of skin-to-skin with her this afternoon while she took one of her feedings! I cried. She was so cozy on me and was so tiny to hold. She cried when they moved her back to her bed. I wish I could have taken her with me.

2.  I've been discharged, but they're letting me stay another night to be close to her.  I'm also glad I'm staying because I'm still in a lot of pain, and being near nursing staff who can help me in the middle of the night gives me extra comfort.  I'm pumping every 2-3 hours and sending it down to them to refrigerate or freeze. I've been able to pump quite a bit so far, and I'm so thankful. I'm hoping she will take to nursing soon when they allow it.

We're so thankful for all of the answered prayers. She's just wonderful and precious, and we adore her so much.
