Once a Week

Image
I feel like blogging has taken a back burner. I love writing. I love expressing myself in written words and seeing my thoughts on a page. I just haven't found the time or haven't made the time or time was lost.  So I guess I'll have to try to at least keep writing once a week if only as a reminder that this place still exists.  This girl and her Shetland pony mane. It's crazy how much her hair has changed in just a year's time. I love putting it in pigtails and ponytails, but I really like just swooping it to the side with a clip and seeing all of those sweet, soft curls.  I tried out a few new recipes this week (from Pinterest, of course).  These crescent roll pizza roll-ups were a hit.  The kids helped me with these crockpot baked potatoes. I liked them, but they definitely could have cooked another hour or two on low in the crockpot. They would have been even better if they'd been a little mushier inside :) The faces this girl can make. Sheesh.  The Husb...

Happy 4th, Y'all!

If you're wondering about the scratch and bruise on Jack's face, here's the 'sitch.  Yesterday, both kiddos were in time-out. At the same time. Because they were being awful to each other.  Not five minutes after they were "released," they were playing chase, and Jack tripped on the rug and slammed his face into the trash can. Who knew a trash can could inflict so much damage?! I iced his cheek for a long time (hence the redness) and gave meds, but he was pretty miserable for the rest of the afternoon. And we all joined in his misery because an unpleasant toddler makes life miserable for everyone around.  Eating an icy treat was pretty much the only thing that distracted him for any length of time.  So there's that.  Anywho, it looks a little better today, but he is still telling me often that it hurts. :/ Happy 4th, y'all! I'm thankful for the freedoms the citizens of this country are still afforded.

Five Facts Friday (10/10)

1.  I haven't really blogged in a very long time. We don't have internet (it's not in our budget quite yet), so using the data on my phone to blog doesn't sound wise. Instead, most of the time I try to write things up at home and publish them at the library using their free wifi. 2.  The Husband's MRI showed that he has a bad bone bruise on his kneecap (with tons of tiny micro fractures), which could have resulted in a broken kneecap. Thank God, it didn't!  He's seeing an orthopedist on Monday to make sure his doctor didn't miss anything. He'll be on light duty at work for a while. Thank y'all for praying for him.  3.  I never got a chance to write about his graduation!  I'm so proud of him! He won the Top Gun award, and he did so well on his exams. Now, he's filling out applications for local departments, and we're hoping and praying he gets hired on at one of them at the first of the year.  4.  Jack got his first hai...

Two Things Tuesday (10/7)

1. The Husband royally screwed up his knee breaking up a fight at work a few weeks ago.  He's in a lot of pain and hasn't been able to work. His doctor wrote this on the report:  "contusion, sprain, and internal derangement to left knee."  Basically, that means she doesn't know what's wrong, haha :/  He had an MRI this morning to see what's going on. He'll see the doctor tomorrow morning (hopefully) to review the results. We are praying it's something that can be fixed soon.  2. Here are a few recent pictures of the kiddos. :)
