Tired

Poor Jack is not feeling well. He NEVER does this. He's killing my collar bone, and he's moaning in his sleep, but I'm enjoying holding him.  The time change + sinus stuff do not equal extra sleep.  They don't even equal a normal night's sleep.   I'm running low today (as the dark circles under my eyes can attest). My tank is almost empty, and I feel like I don't have enough to give to the little ones who need me. But, I'll muster through, and I'll sigh at the end of the day when my head hits the pillow for those few hours of sleep.  Ella is waking up, and I don't want to wake this sleeping boy from his slumber, but I must.  She's congested, too, and I have her propped on a pillow to help. I know it's not the safest setup, but as long as she's swaddled and isn't rolling over yet, I'm ok with it. She's breathing easier like that, which means she's sleeping easier. Both a plus in my book.  Here's hoping for a great n...

Five Facts Friday (8/29)

Image
1.  Ella is 2 months (or 8 weeks, 5 days) old today! 2.  Jack has a new tooth. It's a bottom left one. I didn't know he was cutting one until I saw it already poking halfway through Wednesday afternoon.  3.  He started running fever yesterday. This was accompanied by several very yucky diapers. Seriously yucky. Then, he happily left me a "present" in the tub. First time for that. Truly disgusting. Those poor, poor bath toys... As I was nursing Ella at 3 this morning, Jack woke crying. I asked The Husband to check on him. He was running fever and needed a diaper change. I finished with Ella and headed in to see if I could help with Jack. I gave him some Tylenol while The Husband took care of the diaper. Even though he didn't feel well, Jack was all smiles and babbles there in the dimly lit room. I was worried he wouldn't want to go back to sleep, so I got him a little bit of milk and sat with him in the rocker. I held him a little longer after h...

Two Things Tuesday (5/27)

Image
1.  Jack has been running a fever (anywhere from 99* to 103*) since yesterday afternoon.  He feels pretty darn miserable.  I wish I could say it was just teething (he's cutting two top teeth that are taking FOREVER to break all the way through), but I think it's an infection of some sort.  2.  I made a "discovery box" for him this weekend using a cardboard box and leftover ribbons (thanks, Sister!). I need to make the holes a little bigger for some of the thicker ribbons, but I think, overall, it's a neat idea. It shows cause an effect, and it also helps him practice manipulating small things.

Just some sentences...

*I have no voice above a whisper, which has prevented me from teaching today.  Going in to work would have been pointless since I teach six very active , very sweet, very talkative 4- and 5-year-olds. *I have a rather comfy-looking cat lying on my legs which are, along with the rest of my body, currently covered by four blankets.  Our house stays pretty cold in the winter (possibly due to the fact that our insulation is 10 inches less than it should be).  According to the free inspection we had done yesterday.  *I have a loving, wonderful husband who is currently in the office- slash -former spare bedroom studying while wearing my fuzzy pink robe (I suspect he's taken a break by the loud drumbeat and music coming from the room).  I could be wrong.  He studies with loud music often.  I write lesson plans while singing along to music, too, so who am I to judge? :) *I have a job that I enjoy and am incredibl...
