Sunday Mornings

Image
"Easy like Sunday morning" means squat in this household. I love Sundays because they mean church and worshiping with family and friends.    But Sunday mornings are often rushed for me. The Husband usually comes home from work and immediately takes a nap, which leaves me to doing everything for everyone. I mean I usually do that anyway, but because we have to be somewhere at a certain time, all of us, I feel flustered and rushed until we actually get in the car and my belt is buckled.  I know it will be twice as difficult once the baby arrives, but for now I'll try to find the joy in the harried moments.  Because these two?      They have really come into their personalities. Jack is starting to have some super fun conversations with us, and Ella is both delightful and determined--a challenging combination. We love them both immensely, and we hope our newest little guy will fit right in with our sweet and crazy bunch :) (I love ...

Churchin' It Up

Image
I've been thinking about church a lot lately. Mostly because if The Husband has to work over, we don't get to go. And that's a bummer.  I've noticed something about the church we've been visiting. They, unlike our previous church, seem to encourage (or at least they don't discourage) parents keeping their little ones in the service with them.  At our church in Houston, there was a separate area where toddlers and kids and teenagers went while the adults worshiped. They had their own lessons and songs to keep them occupied. I didn't really think anything of it until we started our family.  I realized very early on, that unless my kids were being super disobedient or were causing a ruckus for some reason, I wanted them with us. I wanted them seeing us worship and singing the songs. I wanted them hearing God's word preached while they learned to sit and listen. I wanted them in and among the body of believers taking it all in. I read this article the oth...

Thirty Days of Thankfulness - Take Two - Day 15

Image
I was going to write about being thankful we made it to church two weeks in a row, and then Jack fell and busted his lip wide open 10 minutes before we had to leave. I spent all of that time cleaning up the blood and dealing with the sobbing and then another 10 minutes with him on my lap refusing to stop crying. This means that Ella did not get woken up from her nap or get changed and dressed until 15 minutes after the church service had already begun. Then, when I explained to Jack that we would not be able to go, he lost it again and hasn't truly recovered. He's an emotional mess this morning, and pretty much everything disappoints him.  I'm not great either. I never dress up anymore because, really, the only people I see all day long are my children on a daily basis, so Sunday mornings are my one day a week to feel "pretty."  But, not today. Back in sweats I go on this chilly morning.  So, today, I'm thankful that I have the option to freely worship in a co...

Sunday, Sunday

Image
We got to go to church today :).  All four of us.  We made it there on time, actually a few minutes early, which is a pretty major accomplishment for us...which is pretty sad since we live like 2 minutes away.  We said, "hi" and shook hands with folks.  We gave hugs to old and new friends.  We sang and worshiped.  We heard and absorbed most of the message, which I think is a big accomplishment with two little ones on our laps.  We had a great morning and are hoping the afternoon and evening go just as well.  These two looked so cute and did such a great job sitting (mostly) quietly during the service. :)

33 Weeks - Pregnancy #2

Image
Each Sunday, I'd like to do a  highlights post , including a picture, summarizing the differences in my pregnancy from week to week.  I totally "grabbed" this idea from  Kelly .  I did this with my pregnancy with Hadley, as well, and I still think it is a great way to jot down the things that I don't want to forget later on.  I'll probably write these on Saturday nights and attach the picture the next day.  That way I can stay semi-technology free :) Pregnancy Highlights: How far along :  33 weeks - Third Trimester Size of baby:   Baby Boy is around 19 inches crown to feet and weighs as much as a honeydew melon (around 4 1/2 pounds) Total weight gain/loss :  At my appointment last Monday, I had actually lost 1 1/2 pounds (I'm sure due to the low/no fat, gluten-free diet I've been trying to follow.  But.  I have tried out a few foods in moderation that have fat and or gluten, and I've managed to tolerate...

The body

**I started writing this post Monday.  It's now Thursday night, and I'm super exhausted.  If it makes you feel any better (those of you who were waiting patiently for another post--Hi Mom!  Hi Linda!), I was being productive with my time.  I finished two of the three books I mentioned previously--they.  were.  awesome.  Anywho, I need to finish this post because, y'all, I have other things floating around in my head that I'd like to write about, and I know myself.  If I gave up on this one, I wouldn't allow myself to start a new one.  So, I'm going to edit, and then I'm going to post it.  No big changes in this post. ** The church we belong to has gone through several changes in the last year.  None of them major, mind you.  But, as I'm sure you're aware, changes often make people uncomfortable, whether major or minor.  They used to make me cringe.  But God knew my change-fearing heart needed to let go.  So, H...

17 Weeks

Warning:  This post contains an abundance of pictures.  Just fyi. Hi again!  Spring Break was wonderful and relaxing and busy.  It went by so quickly.  The beginning of the week was very productive, and we accomplished a great deal around here.  Thursday, we drove to my parents' house to spend a few days with them.  My mom's birthday was Saturday, so we thought it would be nice to be there on her special day.  While down,  I got a much-needed hair cut. Look at all the hair Angie cut off!  I took this in the restroom at the shop right after she cut it, so it's not washed or fixed, but I love it!   Friday afternoon, we went to a festival that's held in my hometown every year during Spring Break.  We went with my best friend and her girls and had a fabulous time!  Here's a picture of the two of us and her newest little one.  Isn't she a doll?! Don't mind my no-makeup look.  I have not been in the mood to ...
